Why did you choose to pursue an internship with MKC/TMA?
MKC has an exceptional internship program that allows students to get a taste of different career paths to determine their interests. I interviewed for various internships, but the other positions did not fit my needs as well as the MKC sales internship. The chance to try out various aspects of a career exclusively through MKC is something unique in the industry today.

What does a day in your life look like this summer?

This summer I am assigned daily a variety of tasks, ranging from scouting to delivering product. I plan out my day at the office with my mentor, Lauren Liggett, later splitting up to take on the rest of the day. We end the day with a phone call or in person conversation to recap on what was accomplished that day.

What has been the most exciting part of your internship?
The opportunity to use new agricultural technology has been the most exciting experience. The equipment I get to use is not typically provided to interns in other internships and something they get to experience first-hand.

What motivates you most about getting up to start a new day as an intern?
Agronomy and communicating with producers are things I enjoy, and this internship is full of opportunities for both. I am motivated each day as I love what I am doing and appreciate how independent the sales internship allows me to be. My mentor trusts me with a lot of responsibility and values my input. I also enjoy being able to work at my own pace.

Favorite memory or activity with your mentor?
One of my favorite activities with my mentor is the time spent together in the pickup driving to talk to producers. This drive time opens the door for a lot of fun conversation.

One thing you can’t leave the house without in the morning and why?
I can’t leave the house without sunglasses. Some days are spent outside, all day long, and my sunglasses are an unspoken necessity.
