We are excited to bring to you the 2021 MKC Wheat School on Friday, August 13. This event will be held at the Merdian Conference Center in Newton from 9:30 a.m. and will conclude after lunch at 1 p.m.

Kansas is known as the leader in wheat production and growers expect the greatest varieties, best practices and resources to produce quality wheat. During the first-ever MKC Wheat School event, you will be a part of a unique opportunity to learn more about wheat management from MKC and our special guest speakers: Dr. Brian Arnall, Lance Embree, Jeff Ball and John Fenderson.

Precision Nutrient Management Extension Specialist
Oklahoma State University

Dr. Brian Arnall is a precision nutrient management extension specialist for Oklahoma State University. Dr. Arnall’s extension, teaching and research efforts are focused on precision technologies and nutrient management in all of Oklahoma’s cropping systems with an emphasis in site specific techniques. He works closely with extension educators and industry personnel to improve nutrient management practices that will lead to increased profitability of producers.

 

Lance Embree
Regional Sales Manager
WestBred Wheat


Lance Embree is the regional sales manager for WestBred in the Southern Plains Region for Bayer Crop Science. He has worked for Bayer for 14 years and held various roles including local field advisor and account manager for DEKALB and Asgrow in Kansas. He has been a Certified Crop Advisor since 1999. He worked with Phil Needham and Opti-Crop to develop an intensive wheat management program in Oklahoma called Opti-Crop. Opti-Crop took European wheat management practices and implemented them with farmers in both Oklahoma and Kansas, revolutionizing the way farmers grew wheat. Lance attended Oklahoma State University where he received a Bachelor of Science in agricultural sciences and natural resources agricultural economics in 1997.

Technical Agronomist
WestBred Wheat

John Fenderson is the technical product manager for WestBred in the Southern Plains Region for Bayer Crop Science. He has worked with Monsanto now Bayer Crop Science for 24 years and held various roles. In 2009 Monsanto acquired the WestBred wheat business and in October of 2009 he became the commercial manager for WestBred covering 6 states with emphasis on establishing our business in Oklahoma and Texas. He served as the commercial manager for 4 years before taking his current role as the technical agronomist for the Southern Plains. John has worked in the Great Plains for 43 years and has been honored to work with so many great folks in agriculture during that time.

Senior Customer Business Advisor
Bayer Crop Science


Jeff Ball is the senior customer business advisor for Bayer Crop Science covering both Oklahoma and Texas. He received both his Bachelor's and Master's degree in agronomy from Oklahoma State University. Jeff was employed with The Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation, Ardmore for 10 years as a soil fertility and crops consultant. He later worked for ESTES Inc. in Enid as an agricultural sales representative.
