Finding a way to collect and analyze data on the farm is becoming more and more popular. Once captured, there are numerous ways that this data can be beneficial. This data can be used to help gain insights on a particular piece of ground that can be used to help make management decisions on the farm. Climate offers ways to collect data from planting, to in season applications, to harvest. Gathering data from all three of these points in the growing season allows a grower to see where the crop started (planting), what happened during the season, and what the end result was (harvest) of the crop. Knowing the story of the crop throughout the growing season helps growers decide what practices are best for their farms.

Along with using the data to make on the farm decisions, there are growing opportunities to use and potentially profit from sharing the data via various trails or programs out there, such as Truterra’s Sustainability offerings. Climate offers a great place to gather and store this data that can then make inputting the data into other revenue programs much, much easier.  Many of these programs want to know the last three to five years of historical practices so getting started this year could be a great decision.  Climate has options to allow some form of digital documentation no matter how old your equipment is and with minimal investment.  Fieldview’s app is one of the most user-friendly systems as well.

With planting just around the corner, there is still time to get the equipment and set up Climate Fieldview, so that you can start collecting information to make better management decisions.
