Title: Sales Intern
MKC Location: Groveland, KS
Hometown: Pratt, KS
Education: Will be a junior at Fort Hays State University studying agronomy

Why did you choose to pursue an internship with MKC/TMA?
I chose MKC because the internship program fit my need to gain more experience with the business side of agriculture.

What does a day in your life look like this summer?
A day in my life this summer consists of first, checking in with my mentor to get a game plan for the day. I then scout a variety of crops for weed pressure and check for surrounding crops to help our operations team know what is surrounding the area. I typically meet back with my mentor to review my findings for work orders to be made. I also have the opportunity to deliver chemical and seed to growers.

What has been the most exciting part of your internship?
The most exciting part of my sales internship has been my cover crop project. I have been able to look at a variety of different cover crops used in my area and have learned a lot about the benefits that cover crops provide to growers.

What motivates you most about getting up to start a new day as an intern?
I am motivated by knowing I help growers in my area every day by making deliveries and scouting. I enjoy learning more about agriculture and broadening my knowledge every day.

How/when did you realize you were interested in the career path you’re in?
I grew up around agriculture my whole life. Last summer I did a scouting internship, and I knew I wanted to do something related to that. I chose this internship to see a different side of ag and have loved it so far!

One thing you can’t leave the house without in the morning and why?
I can’t leave the house without some sort of caffeine to start my morning, as well as my sunglasses.
