Meet the 2019 Summer Interns

Ashleigh-Baker.jpgAshleigh Baker is a sales, precision and scouting intern at the Groveland location. Ashleigh is a junior at Kansas State University majoring in agribusiness with a minor in agronomy. Originally from Benedict, Kansas, she is looking forward to working in a team setting and furthering her knowledge about agronomy and making new connections in the agricultural field. Ashleigh’s involved in the Ag-Econ Club and Sigma Alpha sorority on campus. In her free time, Ashleigh enjoys reading, watching TV and catching up with friends and family.

 
Jake-Tiernan.jpgJake Tiernan is an energy sales intern at the McPherson Energy location. Jake is a senior at McPherson College. He’s currently majoring in finance, management and marketing. Jake is originally from Abilene, Kansas and has a passion for working in the energy sector of the agricultural industry. Jake is excited to learn more about everyday work interactions and scenarios and to learn how to properly marry numbers with customer interaction. He’s looking forward to building relationships and learning about all the aspects of the energy industry. Jake is a student-athlete senator for McPherson College, as well as a resident assistant and a member in the business club. In his free time, Jake enjoys all things outdoors. Hunting, fishing and golfing are some of his favorite activities.

 
Tara-Varner.jpgTara Varner is an operation’s intern at the Walton location for the coming summer. Tara is a senior at Fort Hays State University majoring in agribusiness. Originally from Towanda, Kansas, she’s looking forward to building her network and gaining knowledge in the industry that she’s passionate about. Tara hopes to gain friendship with other interns and share their experiences with one another, creating a tight-knit network. Tara is involved in Collegiate Cattlewomen’s Club and currently resides as treasurer. She’s also apart of the Wheat State Agronomy Club, as well as the Kansas Corn Collegiate Academy. Tara enjoys spending her free time back home with her friends and family and helping on the family farm.

 
Allayna-Hanson.jpgAllayna Hanson is an operations intern and is located at our Lindsborg location. Allayna Hanson, originally from Concordia, Kansas, is a senior at Kansas State University majoring in agricultural economics with a minor in agronomy. Allayna is looking forward to visiting farms and learning what agronomy practices work the best for certain producers and gain more knowledge in grain operations. She’s focused on building network relationships and to further the knowledge of the industry she’s passionate about. In Allayna’s free time, she enjoys going back home to spend time on her family farm and help wherever help is needed.

 
Riley-Eck.jpgRiley Eck is an operations intern at the Groveland location. Riley is originally from Colwich, Kansas and is a senior at Kansas State University majoring in agribusiness. Riley hopes to gain more knowledge about agronomy and learning what day to day life at MKC looks like from his mentor. He’s looking forward to building relationships with interns and employees at the Groveland location. In Riley’s free time, he enjoys handing out with friends and going golfing.


Ashley-McKenny.jpgAshley McKenny is a communications intern and is located in the Moundridge office. Ashley is originally from Stilwell, Kansas and recently graduated from Kansas State University with a major in agricultural communications and journalism with a minor in animal sciences and industry. Ashley was recently involved in the CCD program and hopes to build on the skills she has learned there. She is looking forward to being able to learn how another company works before going out and getting a full-time position. During her time at K-State, Ashley was involved in Sigma Alpha and ran her own photography business on the side. In her free time, Ashley enjoys snapping pictures and spending time with her friends and family.

 
Carson-Funk.jpgCarson Funk is an IT intern at the Moundridge location for MKC this summer. Carson is originally from Kansas City, Kansas and is senior at Kansas State University. He is majoring in mathematics and computer science and is heavily involved in cybersecurity university events. Carson hopes to apply his knowledge of computer science and utilize it to solve real work business problems. During his time here at MKC, Carson hopes to expand his fields that he hasn’t had a lot of exposure to and is it looking forward to broadening his horizons. Carson enjoys spending his free time listening to music, longboarding, program console-based games and producing music.

 
Brandon-Entz.jpgBrandon Entz will continue his MKC journey as an operations management intern across Kansas this summer. Brandon is a senior at Kansas State University majoring in agricultural economics with a minor in agronomy. Brandon grew up in Peabody, Kansas and was influenced by MKC’s presence in his community, therefore leading him to the MKC Intern Program in the summer of 2018. He hopes to learn more about how the Canton Terminal operates on a day to day basis. He’s looking forward to spending more time with Central Dispatch and looking at MKC rig efficiencies. Brandon is excited to grow as a leader through his position, as well as working alongside great coworkers and interns. Outside of the classroom, Brandon serves as vice-president of the Agricultural Economics/Business Club at K-State. Brandon also serves as president for the College of Agriculture Ambassadors. In his spare time, Brandon enjoys spending time outdoors along with helping on his 4th generation family farm.

 
Jodi-Jensen.jpgJodi Jensen is an accounting intern and is located in the Moundridge office. Jodi is originally from Council Grove, Kansas and recently graduated from Kansas State University with a major in accounting and a minor in agricultural economics. She hopes to gain more knowledge about the different accounting methods used in the agricultural industry as well as gaining hands-on experience in an accounting department. During her time at K-State, she was involved in the Rodeo Club and the Women in Business Club. Jodi enjoys spending her free time floating on the Council Grove Lake, along with getting outdoors to hunt with her dad and brother.
 

Tyler-Cloud.jpgTyler Cloud is an operations intern at the Haven location this summer. Tyler is a junior at Kansas State University majoring in agribusiness with a minor in international agricultural. Tyler originally resides from Garden City, Kansas and is looking forward to gaining more knowledge about how grain operations work. Tyler is heavily involved in clubs at K-State. He is a member of the Agricultural Economics Club, as well as a member of the Collegiate Farm Bureau along with being active in the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. In Tyler’s free time he enjoys reading outside and playing video games.

 
Connor-Chesky.jpgConnor Chesky is a sales, precision and scouting intern covering the southern territory. Connor is a senior at Kansas State University majoring in animal sciences and industry with a business option. Connor is originally from St. Helena, California and gravitated towards MKC from all the positive feedback surrounding the internship program. He is looking forward to getting to work with farmers all across the state and all the different learning opportunities that may arise. Connor is involved in Christian campus ministry, along with Collegiate Cattlemen’s Club. In Connor’s free time, he spends time working on a ranch and enjoys being outside doing activities.   

 
Justin-Logan.jpgJustin Logan is a millwright intern at the Inman location this summer. Justin is originally from Rossville, Kansas and is a senior at Kansas State University majoring in agricultural technology management with a minor in agronomy. Justin is looking forward to gaining a better understanding of how grain elevators work, along with the maintenance and machinery involved. He’s excited about gaining new experiences, combined with new friends and seeing all the different elevators. At K-State, Justin is involved in the ATM Club and loves working on vehicles along with building and fabricating different metal projects. In his free time, Justin enjoys taking things apart and figuring out how they work and either fixing or improving them.

 
Jenna-Stonehocker.jpgJenna Stonehocker is an operations intern at the Sumner County location this summer. Jenna is originally from Clearwater, Kansas and is a senior at Kansas State University. She’s majoring in agronomy with a minor in animal sciences and industry. Jenna is looking forward to learning more about the operations of a grain terminal and to grow her communications skills. She’s excited about getting to work with industry professionals who have a lot of experience and knowledge to share. Her free time includes helping on her family farm and hiking the Konza Prairie.                               
 

Brityne-Rucker.jpgBrityne Rucker is a communications intern at the Moundridge location. Brityne originally hails from Hesston, Kansas and is a senior at Kansas State University majoring in agricultural communications and journalism with a minor in animal sciences and industry. Brityne is looking to sharpen her communications and networking skills, along with furthering her knowledge in creative software to learn how to best utilize the tools at hand. She’s looking forward to working with industry professionals and furthering her knowledge of the cooperative system. During her time at K-State, Brityne is involved in Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow and Collegiate Cattlemen’s Club. In her spare time, Brityne enjoys working out along with spending her free time back home with her friends and family and helping out on the family farm.

 
Brett-Schwarz.jpgBrett Schwarz is a sales, precision and scouting intern covering the northern territory this summer for MKC. Brett is originally from Wamego, Kansas and is a senior at Kansas State University majoring in agricultural technology management with a minor in agronomy. He’s looking forward to the opportunity to with emerging technology in the agricultural field and how it can benefit farmers who use it, along with hands-on experiences. Outside of classes, Brett is a member of the ATM Club. Brett’s free time is spent hunting, fishing and camping in the great outdoors.

 
Connor-Alexander.jpgConnor Alexander is an operations intern at the Benton location this summer. Connor is originally from Berryton, Kansas and is a sophomore at Kansas State University majoring in agricultural technology management. He is looking forward to learning a better understanding of the day to day operations of MKC and the different roles that cooperatives play in the agricultural industry. Connor is a member of the Kansas State Ducks Unlimited Chapter and enjoys spending his free time hunting, fishing, working out and hanging with friends.
