Yield Monitor Analysis and Calibration

Yield data provides a good knowledge base about the consistency of yields throughout the field. If good yield data is available, we can determine areas that are consistent versus inconsistent and why each of these areas can produce high yields some years and poor yields in other years. With yield data, we are also able to measure the yield potential in the field under a variety of weather conditions.

Depending on your combine and yield monitor system, the calibration process can be as easy as using multiple loads from a grain truck for single point systems to using multiple cuts at multiple flow rates for a multi-point system. Having a calibrated yield monitor not only provides more accurate data of your farm’s yields, but it can also help determine if a field is ready to cut (based on moisture) by cutting a small bin run versus a load to the elevator saving you time and money.

Yield maps are valuable tools when processed correctly. If you have un-calibrated data and do not clean up errant data, you can get an incorrect perception of your ground and won’t be able to find the true yield potential for areas of the field.

MKC can help calibrate your yield monitor and at the end of the season help you clean up and analyze your yearly data and/or multiple years’ worth of data.
