Tender Truck Driver

Job Summary

Responsible to drive a tender truck and deliver chemical and fertilizer supplies to the certified spray and spreader operators in the field. They will load chemical and fertilizer products in the tender truck, in customer vehicles, and in shuttles. In addition, they will perform maintenance on the tender trucks and on equipment in the chemical and fertilizer plant. They will also clean up the plant and keep their vehicle clean. If qualified, they will serve as back up drivers to the certified spray and spreader operators. They will perform their responsibilities in a manner that will optimize the cooperative’s market share and savings, improve the cooperative’s efficiency, help achieve the cooperative’s mission and goals, and provide outstanding customer service. The tender truck driver will maintain a positive attitude that promotes team work within the entire cooperative and a favorable image of the cooperative. 

Essential Qualifications

  1. Current operational knowledge of tender trucks located at assigned location and knowledge of applicable OSHA, State, EPA, and DOT regulations.
  2. Current operational knowledge of the equipment in the chemical and fertilizer plant.
  3. Good working knowledge of MSDS information on the chemicals and fertilizer being handled.
  4. Good working knowledge of seeds, chemicals, and fertilizer products.
  5. Commercial Driver’s License (A) with Hazardous Materials and Tanker endorsements.
  6. Custom Applicator’s License if providing back up to certified spray and spreader operators..
  7. Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  8. Computer and data entry skills.
  9. Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
  10. Ability to deal with emotional customers and help resolve complaints.
  11. Frequently lift or move 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move 100 pounds.

Personal Protective equipment

Eye protection is required in restricted areas. Appropriate personal protective equipment (i.e. goggles, gloves, long sleeve shirt, and/or face mask) required when handling chemicals.

Required Education and/or Experience

A high school degree or GED.

Job Requirements

  1. Perform tendering duties properly and in accordance with (job orders) delivery tickets.
  2. Operate and maintain tendering equipment properly and in accordance with manufacture’s maintenance manuals and operator manuals. Report need for maintenance work or replacement of equipment to Agronomy Operations Manager when necessary.
  3. Mix fertilizer and chemicals properly in accordance with quality standards.
  4. Report inventory needs to supervisor immediately.
  5. Back up the certified spray and spreader operator (if qualified) by performing spraying and spreading duties properly and in accordance with (job orders) delivery tickets.
  6. If operating as a backup certified spray and spreader operator, invoice all product deliveries promptly and accurately, ensuring all tickets are turned in to the office accurately on a daily basis, ensure all cash receipts are turned in daily to office, and present a copy of the transaction to each customer.
  7. If operating as a back up certified spray and spreader operator, fill out application records completely and accurately, submit application records to your supervisor daily, and inform your supervisor of discrepancies in your reports as soon as you are aware of them.
  8. Inform Agronomy Operations Manager of any new business opportunities
  9. Greet customers promptly and courteously with a friendly smile and hello and thank them for their business. Work with your customers to resolve problems and report any possible misapplication problems to your supervisor.
  10. Ensure customers are informed of safe product handling.
  11. Actively work to increase personal knowledge and skills.
  12. Attend product, merchandising, and training meetings as requested.
  13. Maintain a certified applicator’s license if operating as a backup certified spray and spreader operator.
  14. Maintain equipment in chemical and fertilizer plant and warehouse as assigned by Agronomy Operations Manager.
  15. Ensure facilities and equipment meet federal, state, and OSHA regulations. Report any unsafe working conditions to Agronomy Operations Manager.
  16. Work directly with Field Marketers on any location that you are assisting with agronomy services.
  17. Maintain a clean and professional appearance for yourself and your equipment.
  18. Complete special projects assigned by Agronomy Operations Manager.

Tender Truck Driver

Millwright

Job Summary

Responsible for performing major repair activities for the Mid Kansas Coop grain elevator locations. This position will report to the Area Managers. This position will inform the location manager at the location he is working of equipment needs. The location manager will order the equipment, arrange for delivery, and complete the purchase order. This position will perform duties in a manner that will optimize the cooperative’s efficiency, help achieve the cooperative’s mission and goals, and result in outstanding customer service. This employee will maintain a positive attitude that promotes team work within the entire cooperative and a favorable image of the cooperative. 

Essential Qualifications

  1. Current operational knowledge of grain elevator equipment.
  2. Current operational knowledge of petroleum equipment.
  3. Current operational knowledge of fertilizer and chemical application and storage equipment.
  4. Current operational knowledge of the properties, uses, and equipment involved with electrical systems.
  5. Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems on equipment.
  6. Ability to perform repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment.
  7. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  8. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical and diagram form.  
  9. Ability to operate a bobcat and a forklift.
  10. Computer and data entry skills.
  11. Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
  12. Frequently lift or move 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move 100 pounds.

Job Requirements

  1. Diagnose problems and complete repairs on elevator equipment, petroleum equipment, fertilizer and chemical distribution and storage equipment.
  2. Diagnose electrical problems and repair if qualified. If not qualified, notify Area Managers for assistance.
  3. Communicate to Area Managers on a daily basis on status of projects and planning for next day.
  4. Assist Area Managers on the planning of repair projects.
  5. Observe OSHA, state, and federal safety regulations and the company’s safety policies. Follow contractor’s safety procedures and sign in at each location whiles conducting repairs.
  6. Maintain a positive attitude that promotes team work within the cooperative and a favorable image of the cooperative. Cooperate with the managers and employees at each location when conducting repairs.
  7. Attend maintenance training classes, safety training classes, and cooperative meetings and work to improve personal skills and knowledge.
  8. Maintain all company equipment in your possession in good working order. Schedule maintenance on your company vehicle when necessary.
  9. Complete other projects as assigned by your manager

Working Conditions

Seasonal

Seasonal positions are available each summer and again during fall harvest. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) receiving grain, operating grain sampling equipment and data entry.
